For nearly 20 years, Véronique Marcotte lived the double life of writer and stage director. On the theatre side, she has signed the creation of more than 200 musical shows on the small and large scale, notably the Canada Days in Ottawa and Montreal, the Quebec Games, the opening of the Cogéco Amphitheater in Trois-Rivières or the Millennium Summit in Montreal. In addition to this, she accompanied many artists in the direction of their shows like Alexandra Désilet with Windigo (and symphonic orchestra). In 2015, Véronique announced her withdrawal from directing to devote herself to writing.
On the side of literary creation, she published 8 novels, the last of which La géographie du bonheur (2019, Québec-Amérique), was warmly received by the critic and was reprinted less than a month after its publication. Furthermore, her story Aime-moi (2011, VLB Éditeur) became the object of an investigation-documentary broadcasted on the VRAI channel in 2021, and the novel De la confiture aux cochons (2017, Québec-Amérique) is currently being adapted for film. For these two projects, Véronique signs the script-writing. Finally, she has collaborated to many writer collectives, notably Montres & Fantômes, Projet P. and Nu (all published at Québec-Amérique).
Currently, Véronique Marcotte is pursuing her career as a novelist with a novel to be released titled Je n’ai personne à qui dire que j’ai peur, she works as a scriptwriter on different documentary and fiction projects, she teaches at INIS and coordinates a literary creation residency at Studio B-12 in Valcourt.
