After finishing her music studies, Tanya left Montreal for New York, where she evolved in the current jazz scene, as a singer and then content producer for the ArtistShare platform.
On her return to Montreal, she came back to writing, first entering the television industry through adaptation. She then made the jump to advertising, choosing the 9 to 5 after a life of freelance despite her fear of finding herself in an office setting listening to her colleagues chatter about team building over their lunch bags.
Her preconceptions turn out to be (almost) unfounded. She first adapts national campaigns for the French-speaking market before finally moving on to concept writing. From her advertising experience, she draws great versatility, an ability to modulate her writing to captivate varied audiences, a sense of punch, and that proverbial grace under pressure. In addition to a certain dose of cynicism, but well channeled.
Alongside her adult career, she has been collaborating to the writing of many television series for more than ten years, notably L’œil du cyclone and Les magnifiques, and kid shows like Med and Lourd, where her incisive humour and authenticity are of better use. In 2020, she wins one of four grants from the ENH-Netflix fund for the Mug series.
A great observer of the smallest things, her writing is both imbued with humour and humanity, in a desire to enhance common experiences or to highlight details that we may not always notice.
