Pillar of La Soirée est encore jeune on ICI Radio-Canada Première for 10 years, Jean-Sébastien Girard has a unique and irresistible personality. His caustic humor, his sharp sense of repartee and his offbeat references make him an unparalleled host.
Jean-Sébastien has also made a name for himself over the years through original projects he created or co-created: the evenings JSG Reçoit at the Rendez-vous du cinéma québécois, the show Les Bronzés font de la radio and the podcast Vos vedettes sur le grill. He has collaborated on the shows Les Échangistes, Entrée principale, Votre beau programme, C'est juste de la TV and Esprit Critique, where he continues to receive various confidences from guest artists with Le questionnaire de Jean-Sébastien.
His experiences as an actor and researcher make him a real chameleon. He is an attentive interviewer and always a relevant observer. His references are nurtured by years of cultural bulimia, ranging from trashy TV to classic repertoire, from pop to classical music and dance. A registry of this baggage, in November 2021 he released the book Québec 80: La pop culture pour les irréductibles nostalgiques du cube Rubik, des vêtements flous et de Peau de banane, which he wrote with Tristan Demers.
Nominated several times at the Oliviers and Gémeaux Galas, in 2016, he brings home the Olivier for Best Humorous Sketch (for his “recipe Mac n'Cheetos”!). In 2017, he also wins the Gémeaux Award in the category Best Writing in Comedy for the show La soirée est encore jeune. In 2022, he wins, with his bit Nom d'une pipe – Tout sur le sperme, the Olivier for Capsule or humorous radio sketch of the year for La soirée est (encore) jeune.
He is one of the regular collaborators on the late-night talk show Bonsoir Bonsoir on ICI Radio-Canada TV (CBC) and hosts summer show JS Tendresse on ICI Musique station. From 2023 to 2024, we could see him on stage in his very first one-man show titled Un garçon pas comme les autres. In addition, we regularly hear him on Radio-Canada in Jeannot BBQ, where he takes great pleasure in exploring the journey of his guests with a lot of humour.
